RILEM Youth Council and RILEM Youth Community

The RILEM Youth Council (RYC) was established in Sheffield in 2020 and tasked with attracting, involving and motivating young RILEM members.

The RYC works on increasing awareness of RILEM events, encouraging active participation in technical and educational activities, and strengthening the RILEM youth community. It is also committed to support and empower emerging researchers, providing them with opportunities to grow their careers in the field of construction materials.

Key initiatives of the RYC include:

  • Hosting regional peer-to-peer (P2P) webinars where young researchers present their work, promoting knowledge exchange and networking.

Previous presentations in the P2P webinar series can be found here:

  • Engaging young researchers in RILEM Technical Committees (TCs), allowing them to contribute to ongoing research and collaborate with experienced professionals.

  • Hosting the RYS2025 Symposium - An online event tailored for early-career researchers, offering an inclusive platform to present research, connect with peers, and receive recognition through various awards.
